Since 1997, MEI Academy has been redefining high school by taking learning far beyond the traditional classroom. Today, we are a ministry-inspected private high school, but our mission has always extended beyond academics to prepare students for the realities of life.

Demonstrated Academic & Personal Rigor

MEI students do not simply take senior-level courses in Rome or Bangkok. They live with roommates, manage their own schedule and finances, articulate and defend their ideas, and learn to think critically. This is precisely the self-reliant, mature individual an admissions committee looks for.

Accredited high school courses, combined with the option for AP preparation, demonstrate to colleges and universities that MEI students actively chose a more challenging academic path and flourished.

Our Teachers

We believe the best conceived plans need exceptional leaders to execute them. Our unique learning environment requires that our teachers possess extensive knowledge in their subject area and excel in the use of contemporary teaching methods. It has taken over 25 years of travelling and teaching to summon together the finest teachers. Staff are selected based on their academic knowledge, travel experience and, most importantly, their passion for teaching young adults.

As a testament to how the MEI experience impacts students, many alumni return as faculty members after completing their university degrees. They return wanting to give back what they received as students.

Students and parents will have an opportunity to meet the staff and teachers at a pre-departure meeting held before each trip begins.

    Earn up to $10,000 to use toward the cost of tuition.

I would recommend this program to anyone who is looking to travel with other teenagers their age! You will grow so much in just a few months. When you get home, you will have a whole new set of life skills for whatever you choose to do after graduation! It’s challenging but well worth rising to meet the occasion. If you’re worried about being away from home for 70 days, just know that you will be so busy that time really flies. By the time there’s 2 weeks left, it will feel like you were meeting the group in the airport merely a week ago, but you’ll still feel like family. From morning runs through Florence to lectures at the Louvre, any MEI program will have you seeing incredible cities in a whole new light.

Accredited, recognized, and almost entirely handled for you.

MEI Academy is a ministry-inspected private high school authorized to grant Ontario Ministry of Education credits, including 4U college/university-preparation courses that follow the provincial curriculum, while offering preparation for AP exams. Credits appear on the student's official academic record, and transcripts are issued immediately upon completion of the semester. Ontario credits are widely recognized and evaluated by the student's home school or district for transfer toward local graduation requirements. To make this process seamless, MEI provides full course documentation so a school counselor or administrator can assess equivalency quickly. Furthermore, MEI advisors work directly with the home school to ensure credits align seamlessly with standard graduation requirements.

    Every applicant completes a one-on-one interview with an experienced MEI educator to confirm readiness, maturity, and program fit.

  4. MEI Manages Everything Else

    Flights, accommodation, visas, on-the-ground logistics, and safety. MEI takes full responsibility for the entire operational footprint.
